West Ham United have already made two signings so far this summer.
Co-owner David Gold has told The Sun, that West Ham United are ‘desperate’ to bring in quality players this summer.
West Ham have expressed great ambitions for the future, ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium.
Gold believes that West Ham are now competing with England’s biggest clubs in the transfer market, but he is determined to win the battle this summer.
“We’re desperate to bring in quality players,” Gold said.
“The old West Ham used to compete with teams like Burnley and West Brom for players, which gave us a better chance of signing our targets.
“Nowadays we are competing with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United or Manchester City. For them, resources are virtually unlimited.
“But in the real world at West Ham, you’ve got two English owners who pay their taxes, without the resources of those other clubs.
“We’re not a club yet that can compete on that scale with them.”
West Ham are set to hand Slaven Bilic masses of funds to spend on his squad next season.
Bilic has already made a number of transfer moves this summer, but he has only had mixed success.
West Ham have already brought in both Sofiane Feghouli and Håvard Nordtveit this summer, but some of their other bids have been unsuccessful.
West Ham have been trying to do a deal for Alexandre Lacazette for much of the transfer window so far, but have been unable to get the transfer over the line.
West Ham finished in seventh placed last season, meaning that they will be competing in Europe as well as domestically next term.
