West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has told the club’s official website that he felt Pedro Obiang was ‘outstanding’ against Watford on Saturday evening.
The Hammers travelled to Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Saturday, and looked to be heading to defeat when Troy Deeney gave Watford the lead from the penalty spot after Mauro Zarate was fouled by Cheikhou Kouyate.
However, West Ham did grab a 1-1 draw when Michail Antonio embarked on a surging run past the Watford defence, and after his shot cannoned out of both posts, Andre Ayew tapped home the equaliser.
Despite Antonio’s late red card, West Ham held on for a point, with the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Jose Fonte catching the eye for the Hammers.
Midfielder Pedro Obiang again impressed though, as the Spaniard was dominant in the middle of the park, again cementing his position in Slaven Bilic’s midfield.
Obiang, who was in and out of the team last season following a move from Sampdoria, has been excellent this season, and he’s now drawn praise from Hammers co-chairman David Gold.

Gold has told the club’s official website that he felt Obiang was outstanding against Watford, claiming he’s West Ham’s unsung hero this season.
Gold added that Obiang’s stats are ‘amazing’, and that he gets better and better with every game as he does his job in a ‘very efficient way’.
“Pedro Obiang was also outstanding once again. He is the unsung hero and his stats are amazing,” said Gold. “He goes about his business in a very efficient way and I have constantly said he is a very good player. He is getting better with every game that he plays,” he added.
