West Ham United co-owner David Gold has revealed that he is looking forward to seeing Havard Nordtveit play for the club next season
The Norwegian midfielder – who turned 26 today – sealed a Bosman move to the East London club this summer.
He is well thought of, having came through Arsenal’s academy before impressing in a four-year spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, and Gold admits that he is relishing the chance to see him in action next term.
There is strong competition in West Ham’s midfield with the likes of Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate enjoying excellent campaigns last season, but Nordtveit will hope to stake his claim with a strong pre-season under Slaven Bilic.
He is the Hammers’ third signing of the summer, with Bilic also recruiting Sofiane Feghouli, Toni Martinez and Domingos Quina, though the latter two might be ones for the future, given one is 18 and the other 16.
The Irons will be hoping for a better season under Bilic. They threatened Champions League qualification for so long last term but ended up finishing a disappointing seventh.
