West Ham United chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan have sent their thanks to the club’s fans for their continued support via the club’s official website.

The Hammer have endured a disastrous start to the season picking up just one win so far.

Their 3-0 defeat to Southampton on Sunday was their fourth straight defeat in the league and left them in the bottom three with just three points to their name.

Despite their poor form, the Hammers faithful have continued to turn up in their droves, with more than 56,000 taking in the loss to Claude Puel’s side.

And both Gold and Sullivan were keen to praise them for that support. They told the club’s official website:

“We know this is a difficult time for our supporters at the moment but we want to thank you personally and wholeheartedly for staying with the club.”

“We will turn our season around. As Mark Noble said over the weekend, this is the time that the West Ham United family needs to come together.”

“Our fans have always shown over the years the amazing support they have for the team and we have no doubts they will get behind the players even more over the coming weeks.”

If West Ham are to turn things around this season then there is no denying that vastly improved performances will be needed.

The defence, in particular, needs to improve, having conceded an average of 2.6 goals per game so far.

That record is worse than all three of the promoted teams had last season and the Hammers will need to find a solution to avoid the same thing does not happen to them.
