Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to add more star quality to their side this summer and a club legend suggests they should look to Everton.

Mauricio Pochettino manager

Tottenham are arguably one of the most attractive teams to watch in the Premier League behind champions elect Manchester City.

But Mauricio Pochettino’s side have fallen short once again when it comes to challenging for silverware.

Spurs have been slowly but surely building something special with Pochettino at the helm but the pressure to deliver a trophy and develop a squad to challenge on all fronts is mounting.

Up on Merseyside, Everton have endured a topsy turvy season with Ronald Koeman axed and eventually replaced by the hugely unpopular Sam Allardyce.

The former England boss has done the job of lifting the Toffees out of the relegation zone and into what is likely to be the highest position they can finish, eighth.

But fans are demanding better football and a a tilt at challenging the top six and the Toffees will be looking to reshape their squad come the summer.

The signing Lucas Moura in January was evidence Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is willing to loosen the purse strings if the right player becomes available.

But with a finite number of top class stars up for for transfer in world football it is inevitable that a handful of clubs will be competing for the same players.

However, Spurs legend David Ginola has suggested on talkSPORT that his old club could do a lot worse than look to sign Everton star Wayne Rooney this summer, after he was linked with a move to MLS – as reported by the likes of The Daily Mail.

“I dont understand that… why (should he go to MLS or China).” Ginola told talkSPORT.

“I’m pretty sure he’s going to make the right decision for his career and himself as a 32-year-old man. For Wayne Rooney where do you go?

“That’s not a bad idea actually (for Spurs to sign Rooney) I didn’t think about that, Wayne Rooney playing for Spurs alongside the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, (Christian) Eriksen.

“That would be something, that would be something.

“(I like the idea) because Wayne Rooney will always at one stage score the goals you don’t expect, the winning goal and make the difference on his own, Wayne Rooney is a name and also someone on the football pitch who makes a lot of effort so having Wayne Rooney is just a plus for (Spurs) or any clubs around.”
