David Ginola has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 4th October, that Tottenham Hotspur should consider bringing back Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

Spurs sold both Bale and Modric to Real Madrid, but under Mauricio Pochettino they have become Premier League title contenders.

And Ginola believes that if Spurs brought in both Bale and Modric then they would become the best team in world football.

“Why not think about building a team which would be the best team in Europe for the next five to 10 years,” Ginola questioned.

“Why not bring Bale back to Tottenham, bringing a new era back to Spurs? They would be brilliant. Why not bring back Bale on the left-hand side and Modric in the middle of the park, with Alli at number 10?”

Tottenham have generally operated on a tight budget in the transfer window so far, with the expense of their new stadium taking up a lot of investment.

Spurs have the lowest net spend of any of the Premier League’s title contenders, so for them to break the bank for Modric and Bale would be highly unrealistic.

Tottenham have generally promoted from within, rather than spending lavish sums on big names from abroad.

During their first spells with Tottenham, Modric and Bale became two of the most popular players to have represented the North London side in recent times.
