Ex-Wolves star David Edwards raved about the quality of his former club, when speaking exclusively to The 72 on talkSPORT 2 on Monday night, and shared how he knew they would be a dominant force in the Championship after watching their first three games.

The 32-year-old left Molineux for Reading in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £1 million, and he must be looking back at the Black Country outfit with envious eyes.

Wolves currently sit 17 places and 39 points ahead of the Royals in the Championship table.

Edwards enjoyed a successful nine-and-a-half year spell with Wolves, racking up 44 goals in 307 appearances, and it seems as though he left the club at the wrong time.

He spoke to The 72 on talkSPORT 2 on Monday night, and offered high words of praise for his former team and Nuno Espirito Santo in particular:

“It is is six points but, on a personal level, I just think Wolves are too good. I said, maybe three or four games into the season, they could be on for a record-breaking season. You look at the quality they’ve got, I was lucky to enough to work there in pre-season and see what the manager is all about. He is top drawer and then you implement all the players in his arsenal as well, it is going to be a really successful team – not just this season. I think they’ll go on to the Premier League and go again. I don’t think they’ll be cannon fodder for the big boys.”

Wolves are currently in the midst of their worst run all season long, having taken just two points from their last three games, and will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Edwards’ new team Reading at Molineux on Saturday.
