Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons has not made one appearance for Rafael Benitez’s side in the Premier League this season.

According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United are chasing £10 million rated David Brooks from Sheffield United, and the youngster’s arrival at St. James’ Park would spell bad news for Rolando Aarons.

Newcastle have had high hopes for Aarons ever since he burst on to the scene two years ago.

However, the skilful wide-man has suffered with a series of injuries, and his progress has been blocked.

Aarons is now fully fit, but Rafael Benitez has favoured other members of his squad throughout the season to date.

Aarons has not featured once in the Premier League for Newcastle, and if Brooks came he would only face more competition for a first team place.

Brooks has proven to be a real livewire at Championship level for Sheffield United this season, and looks to have a huge amount of talent.

If he was to move to Newcastle, he surely would be expecting to be given opportunities in the senior squad.

And that could spell the end for Aarons, who is already fighting for his future on Tyneside.

Aarons is now reaching a point where he needs to play regularly, and if Brooks arrives at St. James’ Park that may just be the cue for him to leave the Magpies.
