Everton are linked to the 19-year-old, who appears determined to succeed at Sheffield United.

David Brooks has told The Star that he is “totally focused” on Sheffield United, amid speculation linking him to Everton.

The Telegraph reported in June that Everton were weighing up a bid for the 19-year-old.

Brooks was set to join Chesterfield on loan in the deal which saw Ched Evans go the other way but Sheffield United “pulled the plug” on that transfer after the Toffees were linked.

The 19-year-old was named as Player of the Tournament in the Toulon Tournament this summer and his stock is obviously growing.

But Brooks says that he is ‘loving’ life at Brammall Lane and has plans to make their first XI for the Championship opener with Brentford at home on August 5.

He told The Star: “My target is to try and get in the team for the first game of the season. That’s what I’m totally focused on.

“Everyone else in the squad will say exactly the same. Basically, I just want to play as many games as I can and try and build on last year. To do that, I’ve got to work hard and always try to improve.

“I love it here at Sheffield United and, the same as all the other lads, my aim is to play as often as possible and help the club do well.”
