Former Arsenal and Tottenham attacker says Daniel Levy would have sold Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez by now.
Former Arsenal and Tottenham midfielder David Bentley has criticised the Gunners’ soft approach to contract rebels Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
David Bentley, speaking exclusively to 888sport, said that he feels Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy would have sold both players by now.
Sanchez and Ozil remain first team regulars, but both could leave on free transfers at the end of the current season.
Bentley said: “Would Sanchez and Ozil have been handled differently at Tottenham? Yeah they’ve had sold them. The cashing in would have taken place already.
“For one thing at Tottenham they wouldn’t have had that wage on their books. But to not get some money will also clearing that wage.
“It’s a negative to keep these players because any player who doesn’t have their mind set right will not be effective.”
Sanchez in particular has been disappointing this season, and appears to be in a sulk after his move to Manchester City fell through with Arsenal refusing to sell.
So far keeping him has not paid off, with Arsenal already looking to be out of the title race, 12 points behind City.
More transfer rumours in January will also be an unwanted distraction, and Arsenal might decide that cashing in is their best option, especially if they can sell him abroad.
