David Beckham has sent his first message to Lionel Messi after the Argentine superstar was this weekend officially announced as an Inter Miami player.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the Inter Miami founder and soccer legend gave his first official comment on Messi signing for the MLS franchise as the league confirmed Messi’s arrival, with the attacker to be unveiled later tonight in a special presentation.
The transfer is the biggest in MLS history and one that Beckham and Inter Miami have been pushing for some time. And the former England international has now spoken about his excitement about Messi joining the division and making the decision to move to Florida.

Beckham said: “Ten years ago, when I started my journey to build a team in Miami, I said that I dreamt of bringing the greatest players in the world to this amazing city. Players who shared the ambition I had when I joined LA Galaxy to help grow football in the USA and to build a legacy for the next generation in this sport that we love so much.”
“Today, that dream came true. I couldn’t be prouder that a player of Leo’s caliber is joining our club, but I am also delighted to welcome a good friend, an amazing person, and his beautiful family to join our Inter Miami community. The next phase of our adventure starts here, and I can’t wait to see Leo take to the pitch.”
Beckham’s Messi gamble could lead Inter Miami to glory

Inter Miami’s profile is due to explode with Messi’s unveiling this Sunday. And Beckham’s gamble on the sporting legend could lead the MLS minnows to an incredible few years of success and growth the likes of which no club in America has seen in some years.
Indeed, Messi brings star power and world-class attacking quality that only a handful of players have ever possessed in soccer. And Inter Miami will be hopeful of tapping into this superpower en-route to becoming one of the biggest clubs in the beautiful game.
