David Beckham has posted a classy tribute in ode to Gianluca Vialli on Instagram, who has passed away at 58, as confirmed by BBC.

As the footballing world mourns the death of the legendary Vialli, Beckham is no different.

The late Italian icon is regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation, scoring goals galore for Sampdoria and Juventus in particular.

Gianluca Vialli also made 59 appearances for Italy, while netting 16 goals.

Vialli was also the delegation chief for the Italian national team, who lifted Euro 2020 last year by beating England on penalties.

The veteran was classed as one of the most well-rounded forwards of his generation, which is one of the many reasons why fans and ex-players across the planet hold such a special place for him in their hearts, including David Beckham.

Capable of being a prolific goalscorer as a traditional No.10, whilst also being a major threat out wide, Gianluca Vialli was as complete as they come.

Unfortunately, the great man is no more and Beckham, much like all of us is gutted about his passing.

“A true gentleman with the biggest heart. We love you, Gianluca [Vialli]. Ciao, my friend”, Beckham said on Instagram.

How did Vialli die?

The Economic Times have reported that Gianluca Vialli was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017.

In 2018, Vialli had announced that he had fully recovered from the dreaded illness, which was a welcome piece of news.

However, the disease made its return in December 2021, and after a year-long battle with the illness, the legend was heartbreakingly laid to rest.

One echoes the words of David Beckham, who paid a gorgeous tribute to Gianluca Vialli on Instagram.
