90Min claimed earlier this week that Arsenal are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain skipper Thiago Silva in the upcoming summer window.
The veteran Brazilian will be a free-agent this summer with a number of Premier League clubs reportedly keen.
Silva is one of the best defenders we have seen over the last decade. The former Milan man has won multiple titles in Italy and in France, and his experience could be a game-changer for the Gunners next season.
Silva has earned a number of plaudits from the biggest names in world football. One such player is former Manchester United star David Beckham.
The Englishman shared the dressing room with Silva during the duo’s time, first in Milan, and then in Paris, where he labelled the Brazilian as ‘the best defender in the world’.
He was quoted by Samba Foot saying: “The owners that run the club, they want the best and they’ve got the best. They’ve got such a strong unit with strong players. Thiago Silva is the best defender in the world.”
Arsenal fans certainly don’t need any convincing about Silva’s quality. He has proven it, both at club level, as well as for his country, and he could change the Gunners’ fortunes next season.
Beckham’s words will fill Arsenal supporters with even more confidence but Mikel Arteta’s side will have to beat a lot of teams for his signature this summer.
