David Beckham has urged Wayne Rooney not to listen to Alan Shearer’s advice regarding retirement.

England legend David Beckham has stated that Wayne Rooney should ignore Alan Shearer’s advice and urged the striker to prolong his career with the Three Lions.
While he may have his critics, there is no arguing with the fact that Rooney has been a great servant for the England national team after making his debut for the Three Lions at the tender age of just 17 back in 2003.
Rooney has since gone on to become England’s greatest ever goalscorer and the Manchester United star is now on the verge of becoming the highest capped outfield player for the Three Lions.

At 30, Rooney does seem to have a few more years left in his England career but Shearer had recently stated that the attacker should retire from international duty in order to focus his sole attention towards United.
The ex-England star had said, “This is a Manchester United squad of real depth and power and Rooney needs to be producing at the highest level to make sure he stays in it.
“It is time for Rooney to be selfish and start thinking just about himself. And that, I really regret to say, means his retirement from international football.”

However, former England skipper Beckham does not agree with Shearer’s comments about Rooney and has urged the current Three Lions’ captain to continue on the international stage for as long as possible.
He took to Instagram to say, “So tonight Wayne becomes England’s most capped outfield player. I keep listening to people say Wayne should stop playing for his country to prolong his club career. Wayne should retire from playing for his country? Seriously?
“As a player you retire when you’re ready. Representing you’re country is the highest level you can reach as a professional player, walking out in an England shirt at Wembley is one of the greatest feelings as a player you can ever have.
“Don’t let anyone take that away from you. Every kid around the world that loves this game dreams of walking out in the national team colours and representing the country they love. Continue till you can’t give anymore. Congratulations mate.”
