David Bates delivers his verdict on Glasgow Rangers’ progress under Steven Gerrard

Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have lost just one game since Steven Gerrard took charge.

David Bates has told the Scotsman that new Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has made some impressive signings since arriving at Ibrox.

Bates only left Rangers in the summer, after agreeing a contract with Hamburg, when his deal at the Glasgow club ran out.

But he has kept close tabs on Rangers’ progress during his time in Germany.

And the centre-back admits that he thinks Rangers have progressed during their time under Gerrard so far.

“I’m more than happy. Rangers are a big club and were always going to get big players in and a big manager,” Bates said.

“Steven Gerrard has done great since he’s come in. I’ve watched every game, I’ve still got Rangers TV and he’s done great and made some good signings. The club is definitely on the way back up.”

Bates has started three games for Hamburg since leaving Rangers and appears to have an important role to play for his new side.

Rangers, meanwhile, have lost just one game since Gerrard arrived – but unfortunately that was against Celtic in the Old-Firm derby.

Rangers have still impressed with the way they are playing, and Gerrard’s side will hope to become even stronger after the international break.

Rangers are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Dundee at Ibrox.
