David Adelman addressed the media following Nikola Jokic’s injury, outlining what the team expects in his absence.
Before last night’s game, the Denver Nuggets were enjoying a strong season. They had secured a spot in the top three of the Western Conference, and Jokic was once again playing at an MVP level.
The Serbian centre recently broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s assist record, further highlighting his remarkable career achievements.
And just last week, Jokic made headlines on Christmas Day by posting an incredible 56-point triple-double against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
But everything changed when he went down with an injury during the game against Oklahoma City and didn’t return. Since then, David Adelman’s comments have done little to reassure fans.
David Adelman says Jokic will be examined today

Speaking to reporters after the Denver Nuggets’ loss to the Miami Heat, David Adelman was asked about Nikola Jokic’s injury. He gave a straightforward update.
Adelman admitted he didn’t have much information at the time but said Jokic would undergo further evaluation on his knee today.
“All I know is that it’s a left knee injury. He’s going to go through the process of what it is. Watching it at halftime, his feet got tangled up with a teammate,” said Adelman.
“Obviously, immediately, he knew something was wrong. This is part of the NBA. Anybody that gets hurt in this game, it’s kind of gut-wrenching, especially somebody as special as he is,” he added.
“We’ll find out more tomorrow… It’s unfortunate. It s—-! Hoping for the best.”
Denver’s season could be thrown off course without Jokic
Denver will be hoping that the knee injury suffered by Jokic is nothing serious and won’t keep him out for too long.
While Denver has built a strong squad around Jokic, it’s no secret that everything still revolves around their Serbian superstar.
If he’s forced to miss extended time, they’ll struggle to win consistently. So much of the offense runs through him. In his absence, more responsibility would fall on Jamal Murray to create plays and scoring opportunities.
Murray has been playing well this season, but asking him to carry the load for an extended stretch could prove difficult. The team doesn’t have enough firepower behind him to make up for what Jokic brings.
