Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan is providing fans and media with the lowdown on the Liverpool job Roberto Martinez is being interviewed for.
FSG have been eerily silent as the Liverpool manager hunt continues, with speculation as to potential roles for Roberto Martinez, Louis van Gaal, and ex-boss Rafa Benitez.
Fans will hope for an announcement this week, Wednesday will mark two weeks on from the day Kenny Dalglish was removed as manager.
Looking at what we do know – it is that Spaniard Roberto Martinez has been in the USA having talks with Liverpool’s owners.
The way we know this is via the media friendly Wigan owner Dave Whelan, who has been more than forthcoming with updates on the situation.

What we are asking, is whether Whelan is doing a good service or not?
Those in the media, will say yes, he is a valuable source of information in this case, and with FSG staying silent, he letting us know what is going on.
Liverpool fans and most football supporters, will be glad to know the latest; supporters will be frustrated at a lack of information from the club’s owners.
One man who may not thank him, is Roberto Martinez himself.
The manager-in-waiting, is now having a very public job interview for the vacant position.
Should he not be offered the role, his rejection will be 10 times worse for having it played out in public.
We understand Whelan, who has earned the right to speak freely and as he pleases, simply wants to be open and honest with fans of his own club Wigan, to let them know what is going on.
We also see how keeping his own fans updated should be viewed as a priority over his manager’s situation.
The other consideration is, should he be snubbed, Martinez will be just fine. His reputation has been enhanced simply by having talks with the Liverpool owners.
He is bookies favourite for the Aston Villa job too, and could walk into that position, but may even fancy another top level job.
In the days where Liverpool announcing a new director of communications last week became headline news, it is refreshing to see a man at the helm of a club simply tell it like it is.
He may not be everybody’s cup of tea, and he can put his foot in it, FSG would surely wish he keeps quiet, but more like Whelan are needed.
