Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to invest in their first team squad in the summer transfer window.
Glasgow Rangers chairman Dave King has suggested to the Daily Mail that the Pedro Caixinha will have money to spend in the summer transfer window.
Rangers recently appointed Caixinha to replace Mark Warburton, and the Portuguese boss has made an encouraging start to life at Ibrox.
The Light Blues won 4-0 against Hamilton during Caixinha’s first match in charge.
However, Rangers’ disappointing season to date, has left them fighting to catch up with second placed Aberdeen.
Rangers are currently eight points behind the Dons, and they sit in third place in the Scottish Premiership table.
There is a realisation that Rangers will need to invest, if they are to close the gap on Celtic next term.
And King insists that Caixinha will be given the funds required to improve the quality of his squad at Ibrox.
“We are looking to get through the Europa League qualifiers, although there is an understanding that we are not there. We will have to look at investment for that as well,” King said.
“Pedro needs a number of weeks to assess the players and then come back, so that we have some preparation in advance of the end of the season because the Europa League qualifiers are coming up smartly and we need to have a team that can compete to get us through.
“We’ve got to have a level of flexibility. It’s a sensible approach. It’s certainly not going to be done because of pressure from… it always seems to come from the media and not the supporters.”
Rangers are next in action after the international break, when they take on Motherwell in a week’s time.
