Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have brought in eight players so far.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton

Dave King has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Pedro Caixinha’s approach in the transfer market is better than Mark Warburton’s.

The Portuguese manager replaced Warburton at Ibrox in March after the Gers – who finished 39 points behind Celtic last season – were deemed to have underachieved under the now-Nottingham Forest boss.

The 54-year-old brought 12 players to Rangers last summer, but a year on and virtually none have been success stories as of yet, though injuries did hinder the likes of Niko Kranjcar and Jordan Rossiter for most of their debut season.

It looks like being another very busy summer on the blue half of Glasgow as Caixinha wrapped up his seventh and eighth signings on Thursday following the arrivals of Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera.

And King admits that the 46-year-old’s “player plan” is very different compared to Warburton’s, whom he slightly criticised.

“If I look at the business Pedro has done, his player plan was very different to Mark Warburton’s,” he told The Glasgow Evening Times.

“It’s not a direct criticism of Mark, although it probably is in a certain sense.

“The player plan was more positional in that we needed to do this and we needed to do that. It evolved.”

It was certainly a case of quantity ahead of quality last summer and Caixinha must ensure that he strikes a balance between the two this time around.
