The former Wolves boss is hopeful the club continue to develop good young talent.

Former Wolves manager Dave Jones has been discussing the new era at the club, and he hopes that the side continue to rear young talent as well as buy from abroad.

Wolves were the subject of a massive takeover from Chinese group Fosun International in the summer and that has seen Wolves manage to lure in some top talent from abroad such as Romain Saiss, Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa.

But Jones, in conversation with the Express and Star, made it clear he hoped that Wolves could maintain their youth policy as well:

“It’s still a new era for Wolves. I’m not too sure what Sir Jack (Hayward, deceased former owner) would be thinking about what’s happened, but it will always be a great club.

“You just hope, wherever that is, that youth still gets a chance. Some want instant success and maybe they haven’t got the time for youngsters to develop.

“It’s quite sad, really, because a huge part of the English game is to bring players through to play in the top divisions.

“It’s good for the fans, because there’s nothing better for supporters than to see people in their team who have an affinity for the area, rather than taking the money and running after a while.”

Today demonstrated how important that can be for Wolves.

They faced Aston Villa this evening in the Championship and Paul Lambert’s side came away with a 1-0 win from the clash.

The goalscorer was Joe Mason, signed from Cardiff last year.

But there were impressive performances from Wolves’s own Danny Batth and Jack Price at the Molineux.

Wolves’ youth system can still develop top players and that should not be forgotten among the Fosun revolution.

Getting the right balance between the two could be the key toward returning Wolverhampton Wanderers to past glories.
