Murphy has struggled to make a major impact since his move to Newcastle United in the summer.
Daryl Murphy has suggested that watching the performances of Newcastle United teammate Matt Ritchie from the sidelines has been extremely frustrating this season, the Shields Gazette reports.
The 33-year-old joined the Magpies towards the end of the summer window, but has struggled to make an impact since his move, having only made his first Championship appearance for the club earlier this month in the defeat to Blackburn.

However, he finally gave the Toon Army something to shout about this past weekend as he scored Newcastle’s goal in their 1-1 draw with Birmingham in the third round of the FA Cup.
And after bagging his first goal, he reflected upon having to watch Rafael Benitez’s side for so long and suggested that the displays of a fellow summer signing have made the last few months especially difficult.
“When you see some of the deliveries that our wide players like Matt Ritchie in particular … his delivery is absolutely brilliant,” he said, as reported by the Shields Gazette.

Ritchie has arguably been as inspired a signing as many expected him to be when he dropped out of the Premier League to move to St James’ Park.
His four goals and six assists have certainly boosted Newcastle’s promotion push, and Murphy will be hoping that the pair can strike up a partnership in the remaining months of the season that sees the winger increase his assists tally significantly.
