West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans has become a target for Leicester City, while John Terry is on the Baggies’ radar.

Former West Brom ace Daryl Burgess has urged Jonny Evans to stay with the Baggies and ignore any interest from Leicester, and insisted that his old side should do everything they can to bring John Terry in this summer, the Express and Star reports.
West Brom defender Evans is attracting serious attention from the Foxes, with the Express and Star reporting that a £10 million bid has already been rejected, and a second offer of around £15 million could well be made in the near future.
But Burgess has questioned why the former Manchester United man would have any desire to make the move to the King Power Stadium despite their recent Premier League title win.
“Moving to Leicester, I don’t think I’d even class it as a sideways step, it would be a backwards step,” he told the Express and Star.
“Yes, they had one great season but as a club are they a bigger club than West Brom? They’re no bigger, so I don’t really see the point.”
Meanwhile, one player who has been linked with arriving at the Hawthorns is Terry, and Burgess explained that, as long as the former Chelsea captain is not coming in as a replacement for Evans, he would be a tremendous acquisition for Tony Pulis’ side.
“I’d have him (Terry) in my team in a heartbeat,” he added. “He’s a fantastic centre back and a good leader. But I wouldn’t have him to replace Jonny. You’re only going to get a couple of years at best.”

Keeping Evans at the club would arguably be an excellent statement from the Baggies as he has been a brilliant player for the club since his arrival from Old Trafford, and persuading him to ignore all other interest would suggest that they have a much greater chance of building upon the promise they showed during the past campaign.
And if they follow that up by signing Terry, Burgess is clearly optimistic that Pulis’ men can do even better during the coming season.
