Darren Randolph is confident of challenging Adrian for the West Ham United goalkeeping spot next season.
West Ham United goalkeeper Darren Randolph has told the club’s official website that he can become the club’s number one goalkeeper next season.
The 28-year-old was signed by the Hammers on a free transfer earlier this summer in order to provide first-choice custodian Adrian more competition.
The Republic of Ireland international, though, is confident that he can become the number one as the 2015-16 campaign progresses.
“I would like to think I can push him (Adrian),” Randolph told West Ham’s official website.
“Even if I don’t get to start as long as I am keeping him on his toes, which I think he would expect me to do. If he is playing well and the team are doing well, I will be happy.”
Can Adrian be dislodged from his place?
Adrian has been on the books of West Ham since 2013 and is one of the best players in the current squad.
The Spaniard is, in fact, one of the best and underrated goalkeepers in the Premier League, and it will be extremely tough for Randolph to dislodge him from his number one position.
However, with the Hammers playing in the Europa League and also expected to take the domestic cup competitions seriously, Randolph will get his chances in the upcoming 2015-16 campaign.
