Darren Moore has revealed that Bakary Sako could make his long-awaited West Bromwich Albion debut against Derby County. Sako joined West Brom at the start of October after his Crystal Palace contract expired.

The Malian has yet to feature in any of Moore’s matchday squads as he works his way back to full fitness following injury.

But Albion fans could get their first glimpse during Wednesday’s Championship encounter at the Hawthorns.

Asked for updates on Sako and another recently absent West Brom winger, Matt Phillips, Moore told BBC West Midlands: “Yes, them two are back in training and part of the squad for this game.”

But the Baggies boss may be without the services of Craig Dawson and Gareth Barry, on whom a final decision will be taken on the day of the game.

“We still have a training session so I’m going to assess both,” he said. “We’re going to give both players the maximum opportunity to be ready for the game and they’ve still got a chance to play.”

Bakary Sako signs for WBA on October 2, 2018 in West Bromwich, England.

West Brom slipped out of the Championship’s automatic promotion places following a 1-0 defeat against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

But Moore’s team are only a point behind joint-leaders Middlesbrough and Sheffield United in third position.
