West Bromwich Albion signed the experienced full-back on a free transfer earlier this week.

West Brom boss Darren Moore spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and offered high words of praise for new signing Tyrone Mears, highlighting how impressive the 35-year-old’s fitness levels are.
The Baggies signed the full-back on a free transfer, after he cancelled his contract with MLS side Minnesota United, and Moore is expecting him to play a key role for his side this season.
The West Brom boss actually played with Mears during their time spent together at Derby County more than 10 years ago, and the 44-year-old talked up the quality of his former teammate, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“Considering Tyrone’s only been with us for a short time, and the way his fitness levels are, he can only get stronger. I was pleased to get him. Me and Tyrone were former teammates and I knew the character he was then, I know he prides himself on his physical condition. We saw that against Mansfield – to keep his energy levels as high as he did, is testament to Tyrone.”

The West Brom squad have a long and physically punishing Championship campaign ahead of them, and having someone with Mears’ experience and dedication around the place will surely prove to be a huge boost to everyone, especially the younger players.
