Tyrone Mears was in action for West Bromwich Albion in the Championship this past weekend.
Mears featured for West Brom in their Championship game against Preston away from home at Deepdale this past Saturday.
The 35-year-old right-back started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Baggies won 3-2.
West Brom boss Moore was impressed with the performance of the former Preston right-back and has spoken highly of him.
Moore told The Express & Star about Mears: “I thought he showed his fitness, his energy, he didn’t look out of place at all. I thought he had a tremendous game.
“To come in at this stage of the season and put in a performance like that, it just adds to the team.”
Good signing
Mears joined West Brom in the summer transfer window on a contract that runs until January 2019.
The right-back played well against Preston, and perhaps if he has a few more good matches, then the former Burnley and Bolton Wanderers defender could well earn a new contract at the Baggies.
West Brom are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are one of the favourites to finish in the automatic promotion places this season.
Strike-partnership
Meanwhile, West Brom forward Jay Rodriguez has commented on his strong partnership with Newcastle United-owned striker Dwight Gayle.
Rodriguez told The Birmingham Mail: “One of us is happy if the other lad scores. If I score he’s happy and vice versa.
“That’s a really important thing – everyone in the team is wanting one thing – to get three points at the end of the game.”
