Matt Phillips played well for West Bromwich Albion against Ipswich Town in the Championship last week.
West Bromwich Albion manager Darren Moore has spoken highly of Matt Phillips to The Birmingham Mail.
Phillips, who can operate as a winger or as a striker, was instrumental in West Brom’s 2-1 win against Ipswich Town away from home at Portman Road in the Championship last Friday evening.
The 27-year-old played an important role in both the goals from a central midfield position, as the Baggies maintained their challenge for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
West Brom manager Moore has spoken highly of Phillips, who joined the Baggies from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £5.5 million.
Moore told The Birmingham Mail about Phillips: “We know what he is in terms of his goal threat. He’s a strong powerful boy and a good intelligent footballer.
“It’s a position we’ve looked at and he’s taken to it like water off a duck’s back in terms of his application.
“We know what he can do outside on the flanks, but it’s nice to have that added advantage knowing he can be just as effective inside the pitch.”

Phillips has scored five goals and provided three assists in 14 Championship appearances for West Brom so far this season, according to WhoScored.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the 27-year-old Scotland international made 23 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
