Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have been linked with John McGinn of Hibernian in the January transfer window.

John McGinn is one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, and there is little surprise that the Hibernian star has been linked with moves to Celtic and West Ham United in the January transfer window.

According to a report in The Daily Mail earlier this month, Celtic are interested in signing McGinn from Hibernian in the January transfer window.

The report also claimed that West Ham in the Premier League in England have scouted the Scotland international this week.

Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town in the Championship in England are claimed to have failed with bids for McGinn in the summer of 2017.

With just a couple of days left in the January transfer window, one suspects that Hibernian may not be willing to sell the 23-year-old now, but anything is possible when the transfer window is open.

According to The Sun, McGinn could cost £4 million in transfer fees.

Hibernian defender Darren McGregor has given his take on the future of McGinn, and the 32-year-old former Rangers man has suggested that he hopes that McGinn does not go until the end of the season, although he admits that he will eventually leave.

John McGinn of Scotland walks out to look around the stadium prior to the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier between Scotland and Malta at Hampden Park on September 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

McGregor told The Scottish Sun: “He will go eventually. When that is, who knows. It’s been a pleasure.

“I’ve seen John develop from a 16-year-old at St Mirren. He will only go further and further in the game. I have been blessed to play with him. Hopefully he gets the move he deserves, but maybe not till the end of the season.”
