The former Norwich City forward has tweeted about the news.

Darren Huckerby has been tweeting about Norwich City’s plans to raise £3.5 million with which to improve the facilities at their Colney training ground.
The intention is to replace temporary buildings with a new permanent structure, including gym facilities, as well as improve the playing surface as Norwich strive to maintain their Category One academy status.
In doing so, the Canaries would stand a better chance of producing high quality players of their own, which could be crucial to the club’s future success with only two years of parachute payments – which decrease year after year – remaining.

According to Huckerby, who helped to fire Norwich into the Premier League during his five years at Carrow Road, the plans are long overdue.
He posted:
Norwich City’s academy has helped to develop a string of players including England youth internationals Angus Gunn [pre-Manchester City], Josh Murphy and Jacob Murphy [now Newcastle United].
