Manchester United youngster James Garner is reportedly on Sunderland’s radar.

It has been reported that the League One outfit want to secure the services of the 18-year-old midfielder on loan from Premier League giants United in the January transfer window.
Preston North End and Wigan Athletic in the Championship are also claimed to be interested in the England Under-19 international.
Garner has progressed through the United academy and has yet to make his mark in the first team, but Darren Fletcher’s recent comments will be highly encouraging for the Sunderland fans in terms of the teenager’s quality and calibre.
Fletcher was on the books of United from 1995 until 2015 and knows the Red Devils inside out, and the Scotsman raved about Garner in September 2019.
The Daily Mail quoted the former West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City midfielder as saying about Garner in September 2019: “People talk about the leaders and who is going to help them, which is an important side [to the argument], so it’s a difficult one but I’m sure as the season goes on you’re going to see more of James Garner because he’s top class.
“I’m surprised he’s not featured so far but by the end of the season I’m sure that people will know who he is without a doubt, if you don’t by now.”

Sunderland are aiming to finish in the top two of the League One table this season and clinch automatic promotion to the Championship.
The Black Cats are eighth in the league table at the moment with 22 points from 13 matches, five points behind leaders Peterborough United and second-placed Ipswich Town.
