The Derby County striker felt the German had a very good Liverpool debut.
Liverpool’s Loris Karius
Derby County striker Darren Bent has told Sky Sports News HQ today (21/09/16) how Liverpool keeper Loris Karius caused his Rams side trouble in their EFL Cup tie this week.
Liverpool defeated the Championship side 3-0 at the iPro Stadium in what was a confident and polished performance from Jurgen Klopp’s men.
The game also gave him a chance to bring in some of those players on the fringes, which includes his goalkeeper summer signing Karius.
The German talent arrived from Mainz in the summer but suffered a broken hand early in his Liverpool career.
Liverpool’s Loris Karius
Karius was therefore making his debut against Derby County, for whom Bent was playing. He was impressed with what he saw from the German, telling Sky Sports:
“I think I might have had one header at goal, which he (Karius) saved, and that was it.
“Other than that they just kept possession so well, moved the ball. I am sure they will have a good season this year.
“It made it difficult. Every time we put it in behind he was out to obviously sweep the ball and he acts like an extra man really.
“When we were trying to press the ball they just bounced it off their goalkeeper and out the other side so we couldn’t quite get to grips with it.
“All modern goalkeepers are good with their feet and this kid’s no different. His distribution was so good.”

The 23-year-old certainly impressed Liverpool fans with his sweeper keeper style and it seems Bent was of the same persuasion.
Were it not for his hand injury Karius might have already been pushing Mignolet for the number one spot at Liverpool.
After this performance there is little doubt that Liverpool have a battle going on for the goalkeeping duties at Anfield this summer.
