Darren Bent said on talkSPORT (4:59pm, September 3, 2020) that he would love to see Callum Wilson join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland striker believes that Wilson would be a good signing for Newcastle.

According to 90min, the Magpies want to sign the 28-year-old England international from Bournemouth, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.

Bent said about Wilson on talkSPORT (4:59pm, September 3, 2020): “I would love to see him go to Newcastle because if he goes up there, they love their number nines. Massive football club, big fanbase, and it’s a fantastic place to live as well.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Wilson made 32 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Bournemouth last season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in the process.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the England international striker scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in 30 league games for the Cherries, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Newcastle United?

Joelinton scored just two goals in the Premier League last season, according to WhoScored, and Newcastle manager Steve Bruce needs to sign a new striker this summer.

Wilson knows the Premier League, and if played to his strengths, he could score 10 to 15 goals in the league next season.

With Bournemouth having been relegated from the Premier League, the Cherries may not be in a position to prevent Wilson from leaving.
