Darren Bent has said that there is a gulf in class between Thomas Partey and Rodri.

The former Tottenham Hotspur goalscorer, who is known to be a boyhood Arsenal fan admitted on talkSPORT that the Manchester City lynchpin is in a league of his own.

During the start of the season, many, like Darren Bent had their says on whether Thomas Partey or Rodri was the best defensive midfielder in the world.

Darren Bent says Rodri is miles better than Thomas Partey

With Casemiro’s arrival from Real Madrid in the summer, he too was right in and amongst this debate between the three defensive midfielders.

As Mikel Arteta’s side were dominating proceedings in the league, the £45 million (Independent) man was heralded by many as the standout player in his position in world football.

However, Darren Bent has admitted that Rodri is the benchmark for every No.6 on the planet, including Thomas Partey.

“For me, he is the best holding midfielder in the world. Right now, he is the best holding midfielder in the world. At the start of the season, for my sins, I was saying that Thomas Partey [was the best No.6 in the world], who start of the season, unbelievable. He can’t lace Rodri’s boots!”

Thomas Partey still has a way to go to be in the same conversation as Rodri

Much like Darren Bent, several Arsenal fans were giving Thomas Partey in an edge in a debate up against Manchester City’s Rodri.

However, the Ghanaian international, who remains a top player still cannot dictate games at the same level as his former Atletico Madrid teammate.

Off the ball as well, Partey still has a way to go before he reads the games like the Spanish international.

In fact, the 29-year-old’s form has perhaps dipped the most during Arsenal’s recent collapse, while his spell in the Premier League on the whole has been a mixed bag.

The same cannot be said about Rodri, who continues to raise the bar, week in, week out.
