Darren Bent said on Premier League Productions that Liverpool could struggle against Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy this weekend.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker believes that Vardy will relish playing against what will be a very young and inexperienced Liverpool back-line.

The Reds will take on Leicester at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

According to The Liverpool Echo, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are injured and will not play, while there are doubts over the fitness of Andy Robertson, Fabinho and Rhys Williams.

Bent said on Premier League Productions: “They have got to earn their money this weekend defending against him because he is so sharp, he is so electric, he is clever. And if I was Vardy, I would be thinking, ‘I would get some joy here’ because I don’t think they will be able to contain him.”

Tough game for Liverpool

Liverpool are in good form at the moment, but so are Leicester, who will head to Anfield full of confidence and will fancy scoring against the Reds.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment and will be determined to stay there.

Vardy has been superb for the Foxes so far this season, and his pace and ability to run at defenders will cause a problem for Liverpool.

According to WhoScored, the 33-year-old has scored eight goals and provided one assist in seven Premier League matches for Leicester so far this season.
