Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag signed Antony, but, according to talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent, he should have signed another winger who is now starring for David Moyes’s West Ham United.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has criticised Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag for bringing Antony to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old Brazil international winger has been on the books of the Red Devils since 2022 when he joined from Ajax.

According to talkSPORT, United head coach Ten Hag “pushed” for the signing of Antony, having worked with him at Ajax.

Antony has scored four goals and given two assists in 47 appearances in the Premier League.

The winger has been disappointing, and talkSPORT pundit Bent thinks that Ten Hag should have signed Mohammed Kudus instead.

Kudus, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, moved to West Ham from Ajax in the summer of 2023.

Ten Hag worked with the 23-year-old Ghana international international at Ajax. The attacker has scored 15 goals and given five assists in 36 matches in all competitions for the Hammers this season. Kudus scored twice against Freiburg at London Stadium in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

Erik ten Hag told he should have signed Mohammed Kudus for Manchester United

Bent made the comments with co-host Andy Goldstein on talkSPORT on Friday (15 March), as transcribed by WestHamZone.

Goldstein said: “A brilliant achievement, an unbelievable solo goal, which was just fantastic.”

Bent replied: “That’s why your manager is having a laugh. How do you end up at Ajax and you come back with Antony and not Kudus? Work that one out.”

Goldstein asked: “How on earth again do you bring this back to Man United? Let’s talk about West Ham.”

Bent responded: “Because it’s true He opted to sign Antony over Kudus. What a goal, by the way.”

My View: Manchester United should sell Antony this summer

In my opinion, Manchester United should try to sell Antony in the summer transfer window.

It has been almost two seasons for the winger at Old Trafford, and it has not happened for him yet.

I do not think that the situation is going to improve for the Brazilian. It would be best for both the club and the player if they part ways.
