Tanguy Ndombele’s start to life at Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t begun in the manner in which he would have liked.

Darren Bent has questioned Tottenham Hotspur summer signing Tanguy Ndombele and stated that he hasn’t ‘set the world alight’ since his move to North London.

Spurs secured the signature of the midfield powerhouse Ndombele in the summer when the made a £54 million move from French giants Lyon, as reported by BBC Sport.

Ndombele has been in and out of Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI this season, as he has shown signs that he has the quality to be a midfield regular for the club in years to come.

But former Spurs striker, Bent thinks that Pochettno would have had intentions of leaving the club had they won the Champions League in June, as he shared his thoughts on Ndombele and Tottenham’s lack of activity in the summer.

“For me, Pochettino looks like a frustrated figure,” said Bent, as posted by The Football Report. “One who is disappointed with the way things are. He doesn’t feel like he’s been backed properly. He doesn’t know what will happen at the end of the season, not even the end of the season, but January.

“Potentially five of his players could be walking out of the door for nothing and having not replaced them. If they had won the Champions League last season, I genuinely believe he would have had said ‘thank you, I cannot take Spurs any further’. Now that didn’t happen.

“Then he was linked with these superstars, these Dybala’s and Coutinho’s, they didn’t get any of them over the line and it was a case of ‘what am I expected to do?’. They have bought Ndombele, but he hasn’t set the world alight, at the minute. They spent a lot of money on him. I don’t think the manager or the fans know what direction they are going in.”

Tottenham were beaten in the Premier League last time out, as Pochettino opted to drop Ndombele to the bench despite the Frenchman not doing much wrong.

He will be hoping to make a return to Tottenham’s starting XI when they travel to Merseyside to take on struggling Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Pochettino has been very undecided in which players and what formation to pick this season, as it wouldn’t be a surprise if he makes more changes again at Goodison Park.
