Sunderland are currently still looking for their first Premier League win.

Darren Bent has told Sky Sports News that he doesn’t understand why Sunderland are struggling.
Bent was part of the last Sunderland side to finish in the top half of the Premier League table, but since he departed the Wearsiders have almost perennially struggled against the drop.
The Black Cats don’t seem to be able to break out of the relegation battle, but Bent does not understand why his former club are struggling to make improvements.

“I don’t understand. They get 40,000 every week, but for whatever reason they seem to have struggled a bit,” he said.
“Last season was the great escape under Sam. Defoe played a big part for them last season. They’ve had a lot of goalscorers, but they seem to have struggled.”
Sunderland appointed David Moyes over the summer, after Sam Allardyce took the England job.

Moyes has made a slow start at the Stadium of Light – and the North East side are still looking for their first Premier League win.
However, Bent has backed them to get out of trouble, providing they can keep Jermain Defoe off the treatment table.
“If Defoe can stay fit, I’m sure they’ll be fine this season,” Bent added. “Once their fans get behind their team it can be a difficult place to play.”
Sunderland’s next fixture comes against Queens Park Rangers in the EFL Cup later this evening.
