Darren Bent has told TalkSPORT that Liverpool star Diogo Jota has shown “no respect” to his Reds teammates since joining the club – as the Portugal star continues to dislodge Roberto Firmino from Liverpool’s starting XI.

Jota, 25, joined Liverpool from Wolves for a fee in the region of £40million in the summer of 2020 and has since clocked up 30 goals in 67 games. His best form has come this season, already clocking up 17 goals in 37.

His form has seen Firmino remain on the bench, combining with the likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah. His fee has proved to be a bargain, one of Jurgen Klopp’s best signings at Anfield – and he has many years left to go.

Speaking about Jota’s near two years at Liverpool, Bent was full of praise for the Liverpool attacker. He has applauded the ex-Wolves man for showing a lack of respect to his new teammates, by overtaking them.

“I never thought I’d see it, someone dislodging that front three of Firmino, Mane and Salah. He showed no respect and went ‘you know what, I’m good enough to be in this front three’, got his opportunity, kept scoring.”

Bent on Jota: Liverpool star is the future of Anfield’s attacking arsenal

Jota has been sensational for the Reds. He is the future of their attack, with Firmino, Salah and Mane all set to enter their thirties. Doubts also remain regarding the future of the attack – with all seeing their deals expire in 2023.

Luis Diaz has been added, Jota is another crucial part that could replace the aforementioned trio. Liverpool need one more, but having the quality in Diaz and Jota as ready-made replacements is a sign for the future.
