Darren Bent has admitted that he is waiting for the ‘wheels to fall off’ Arsenal’s effort to qualify for the Champions League.

The Gunners visit Watford on Sunday with a three-game winning streak in the Premier League.

With the Hornets buried in the relegation zone, victory for Arsenal will be expected.

Mikel Arteta’s outfit are probably favourites to finish in the top four because they’re only two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, with three games in hand.

Arsenal could and definitely should be back in the Champions League come next season.

However, Bent, a Gooner, has told Premier League productions that he’s expecting capitulation at some point.

He said: “Someone will let them down, whether it be discipline or an injury, and that’s why I think have they got the right temperament to get them over the line? They’re in prime position. Win those games in hand and they’re in that top four. But you can’t help, because the last few seasons, waiting for the wheels to fall off. It’s horrible to say but we’ve seen it!”

Is Bent correct?

Well as much as Arsenal supporters are praying that nothing interferes with their bid to return to the top four, something might.

Whether it be an own goal that could’ve been avoided, a red card for Granit Xhaka or Alexandre Lacazette missing an open goal, there will be a catalyst which leads to the Gunners suffering a horrendous run of form at some point.

At the moment, they’re surviving rather than thriving, with their last three victories in the Premier League being by only a one-goal margin.

It’s tightrope stuff from Arsenal at the moment and falling at some point is definitely possible.
