Tottenham Hotspur will be preparing for the Champions League final.
Darren Bent has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino could go to Barcelona if the job becomes available as he questioned his future at the club.
Pochettino is a former Espanyol manager, who are rivals to the Catalan club, so the chances of that situation occurring are pretty slim.
But speaking to Sky Sports News (18/05/2019 at 4:30 pm), Bent questioned whether Pochettino will still be in North London next season, especially if he lifts the Champions League, as he admitted that the Spurs fans won’t want to hear what he is saying.
“Your immediate reaction is he’s going to try and go again next year,” Bent told Sky Sports News. “But you think to yourself if they go on and win the Champions League, what more can he really achieve at Spurs? I know Spurs fans won’t want to hear that.
“The next question is where does he go? Zidane is at Real Madrid. The only other one that is maybe on the cards is Barcelona. If the job is available, he might do.”
At this moment in time, Tottenham will be preparing for the biggest game in their history when they take on Liverpool in the Champions League final on June 1.
Spurs’ road to Madrid has been a remarkable one because Pochettino, his staff and players have reached this stage with such limited resources compared with their rivals.
If Pochettino does guide them to European glory next month then it’ll no doubt be the greatest feat in the club’s history, but they have to see past a very strong Liverpool side first.
Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Real Madrid last season and the Merseyside club will want to go one better this time around.
