Darren Bent has claimed that Leeds United and West Ham United transfer target Aaron Wan-Bissaka is ‘very, very good’ from a defensive aspect, as he is set to leave Manchester United, as he told talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old started Manchester United’s EFL Cup win over Championship side, Burnley, on Tuesday and produced an outstanding assist across the face of the goal for Christian Eriksen to open the scoring.

Whilst that first-time ball was pin-perfect and of very high quality from Wan-Bissaka, those at Old Trafford just haven’t seen enough of it, hence why he is headed for the exit door in January.

One thing is for sure, if he does leave, then he is saying his goodbyes on a high note, as the likes of Leeds United and West Ham United are keen on signing the £50 million star.

A lot more is asked of the modern fullback, who are probably now judged more on what they do going forward, than what they produce in their own defensive half, with Bent using Wan-Bissaka as an example when he was told that he could leave in January.

“Do you think that’s the case of the role of the fullback changing because we know defensively, and one-v-one, he is very, very good,” said Bent.

“But it almost feels like managers now would subsidise a little bit of that defensive responsibility if you are better on the ball.”

WAN-BISSAKA WOULD BE A TOP PURCHASE

It didn’t all go wrong for Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford, he had a number of high moments, it’s just Man United’s inability to get back to the top hasn’t helped many players’ form.

From Marcus Rashford to Harry Maguire to the now-departed Paul Pogba, it has gone wrong for many players at Manchester United in recent years.

But if either West Ham or Leeds can secure his talents next month, then they will get a top, top player who from a defensive aspect, will seriously tighten them up.
