Darren Bent has told Sky Sports that he cannot believe Derby County were not awarded a penalty against Nottingham Forest.

Frank Lampard’s Derby side had big appeals for a spot kick when Forest’s Tendayi Darikwa appeared to take down Tom Lawrence in the box.

The Forest full-back raised his foot very high and made no contact with the ball, but referee Keith Stroud refused to point to the spot.

And Bent was baffled by the refereeing decision which went against his former side.

He said: “I don’t understand. I don’t know how he can’t give that as a penalty. It’s absolutely insane.”

Derby and Forest ended up playing out a 0-0 draw, in what was a closely fought match at Pride Park.

Forest actually arguably had the better of the chances, but Joe Lolley and Lewis Grabban both missed.

Forest also had some refereeing decisions go against them, as Derby were fairly fortunate to finish with 10 men on the pitch.

Forest’s draw has left them in seventh place in the Championship table, while Derby have moved up to fourth.
