According to The Athletic, Aston Villa have shown an interest in Eddie Nketiah as he enters the final few months of his contract.
Villa have been ever-improving under Steven Gerrard, but one thing they’ve struggled to do this season is to get their strikers firing on all cylinders.
Indeed, Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins have just nine goals between them this season, and that, quite simply, isn’t good enough from two players who have previously managed to hit double figures in the Premier League.
Villa could probably do with someone who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net, and that has led them to have a look at Nketiah.
Interestingly, former Villa striker Darren Bent has previously branded Nketiah as a ‘natural goalscorer’.
What’s Bent said about Nketiah?
Bent was speaking very highly of Nketiah when speaking about Brighton’s striker problems earlier this month.
“Neal Maupay is like a patchy striker. He would have a period of scoring in three games here and then won’t score for a while,” Bent said.
“But Eddie Nketiah, all Brighton need is someone to stay in and around the box, then they will finish them off. Nketiah, for me, is a natural goalscorer, who will pick up them positions. Out of those two clubs, he suits Brighton.”

Natural goalscorer
Bent knows what a natural goalscorer looks like. After all, about a decade ago he was one of the best in the country, and he says that Nketiah is in the mould.
Villa need to add more goals to their side, and with the likes of Emi Buendia, Philippe Coutinho and Jacob Ramsey in the team, Nketiah should get chance after chance provided to him.
This could be a fantastic signing if Villa can pull it off.
