Darren Bent has been commenting on Derby County’s start to the season to Sky Sports News HQ today (21/09/16).

Derby appointed Nigel Pearson in the summer with the hope he could finally take the club to that elusive promotion they have been craving.

However, it has been a difficult start to the season for the Rams.

But speaking to Sky Sports their veteran striker Bent seems to believe that the club are getting better – and that as a team, the players are all still in full support of the direction the club is going:

“We’re certainly getting better. We got off to a difficult start.

“We are making strides; we are starting to do the right things.

“We’ve not lost faith in each other. We all know how good we are as a team and where we want to go this season.

“It’s just about turning it. We are all pulling in the same direction.”

Yesterday Derby were dumped out of the EFL Cup by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool but is the form in the Championship that most worries Rams fans at present.

Derby are currently 20th in the league after a poor start to the season. Their main problem has been scoring goals. They are currently the league’s lowest scorers with just two goals from eight games, four worse off than the next worse team Cardiff City.

Derby may be getting better, but as long as Bent and co aren’t putting the ball in the back of the net they are not going to start rising up the Championship table.
