The former Spurs striker understands the pressure on Janssen more than most.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen
Darren Bent has been speaking to Sky Sports News HQ this week (21/09/2016) about how much his former team Tottenham Hotspur will miss striker Harry Kane – and how he feels Vincent Janssen is settling into his new surroundings.
Spurs’ star striker Kane suffered ankle ligament damage in a tackle with Papy Djilobodji of Sunderland last weekend and looks set for a two-month spell on the sidelines.
Tottenham are undoubtedly going it miss the goals of the striker – who had just started finding the net again.

But they spent big to bring Janssen to the club this summer and the Dutchman will now need to step up in his absence. So far he has struggled to live up to the hype and is still searching for his first Premier League Tottenham goal – although he did score a penalty against Gillingham in the EFL Cup yesterday.
Bent, who joined Tottenham from Charlton Athletic in 2007 and spent two years at White Hart Lane, believes that the Tottenham fans will give Janssen the time he needs to make an impact:
“He’ll be a massive loss for them. How do you replace that?
“There’s not a lot of 20-goal strikers about nowadays. So he is going to be a big miss.

“It gives the other guy a chance to impress the manager.
“It is hard. When I went to Tottenham it was difficult because the expectation level goes up a notch.
“They are a big club and are expected to win things every week. It is difficult.
“The only thing he can do is try and relax and do as well as he can. They will give you time, that is one thing I will say about the Tottenham fans, they do give you time, a chance to find your feet. As soon as he gets his first goal he will get going.”

Bent will know full well about the expectations of a striker at Tottenham Hotspur, seeing as he was in a very similar position to the one Janssen is himself earlier in his career.
Whilst Janssen is without a league goal Spurs fans appear to be impressed with his work ethic so far and will no doubt hope that he can start firing soon.
