Derby County drew 2-2 with Leicester City in the FA Cup on Friday.

Derby County were just minutes away from dumping Leicester City out of the FA Cup on Friday evening, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Pride Park.

The Rams fell behind in the first half as Darren Bent comically sliced the ball into his own net from close range, before the former England striker redeemed himself with the equalising goal, glancing an inch-perfect header past Ron-Robert Zieler and into the net.

Steve McClaren’s side then took the lead before the break as midfielder Craig Bryson made a superb burst into the box before driving a shot into the bottom corner.

Derby rode their luck at times in the second half as Leicester had a number of chances to equalise, with some last-ditch defending coupled with some fortune keeping the Foxes at bay.

However, the Premier League champions did find the leveller, as Wes Morgan headed home Demarai Gray’s 86th minute corner to hand Claudio Ranieri’s men a replay back at the King Power Stadium.

Derby will be disappointed to have only got a draw having been moments away from a win, but they will go into the replay with confidence that they can again give Leicester a real run for their money.

After the final whistle, Derby players took to Twitter to react to the draw, with striker Bent reflecting on an ‘eventful’ game, having scored at both ends, but felt that his side deserved more than a 2-2 draw.

Midfielder Will Hughes also sent a message to fans, suggesting that it was an enjoyable game, but frustrating not to see the game through and claim the win.
