Tottenham are claimed to be monitoring Wilfried Zaha.
Former Tottenham winger Darren Anderton has warned Wilfried Zaha may not get into Tottenham’s first choice XI.
Spurs are one of a number of teams reported to be keen on signing Zaha, with The Times claiming earlier this year they are planning a £50 million summer move.
Zaha is under contract at Crystal Palace, where he signed a £120,000 per week deal last summer.
He said: “I think Zaha is a really good player and he had a great season at Crystal Palace. I think he would be a really good addition to the Tottenham squad and he would be a very welcome signing.
“I’m not sure who he would replace in the starting XI though. [Heung-min] Son would probably be the most vulnerable, but that would be harsh on him because he played so well last season and really stepped up while Harry Kane was injured.”
Son scored 18 goals in all competitions for Tottenham this past season, including a goal in the Champions League last 16.
He is a big game player who has proven himself, while Zaha has a big point to prove after his big transfer to Manchester United early in his career turned out to be too much too soon.
The good news for Zaha, is that a straight choice between Son and himself would not be necessary each week, especially with rotation needed over the long season.
With Son capable of playing up front, Zaha’s arrival could give them more opportunity to rest Harry Kane.
Also in Zaha’s favour would be the headstart he could get, with Son playing at the World Cup this summer.
At present though it is a just a theoretical discussion, and will remain so until Spurs present Palace with an acceptable bid.
