Tottenham lost 2-1 to Monaco in Wembley last night.

Tottenham Hotspur were struck by opening-night nerves in their first Champions League game of the season.
With White Hart Lane being redeveloped, Wembley played host as Monaco humbled Spurs and left London with a 2-1 win in their Group E opener last night.

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Thomas Lemar against the run of play helped Leonardo Jardim’s side into a 2-0 lead on the stroke of half time.
Toby Alderweireld pulled one back for the ‘hosts’ with a fine header just before the break but, despite having 45 minutes in which to find an equaliser, Mauricio Pochettino’s boys failed to break down a resolute Monaco defence.
If there was a positive, it perhaps comes in the form of gate receipts as the best part of 85,000 Tottenham fans turned up – a record for an English side in the Champions League.

Darren Anderton pointed out thea attendance on Twitter afterwards and noted that there was no need to panic, with five more group-stage games left.
Fortunately for Tottenham, the other game in Group E ended in a draw as CSKA Moscow – who Spurs visit in the next matchday – drew 2-2 at Bayer Leverkusen.
