Darragh MacAnthony has suggested that he would be interested in taking over Newcastle United one day, although not just yet.

The Peterborough United chairman was asked by one Newcastle fan to attempt to buy the Magpies from Mike Ashley.

And MacAnthony has suggested that he and fellow Posh co-owner Randy Thompson would like to buy Newcastle, but it is not the right moment yet.

MacAnthony has developed a reputation as one of the Football League’s most open owners, which makes him very different to Newcastle’s Mike Ashley.

Ashley has never been popular at Newcastle, but he has faced an increased backlash in recent times after failing to tie down Rafael Benitez to a new contract.

It was announced yesterday that Benitez will be leaving St. James’ Park in the coming days, when his current deal expires.

Newcastle are now looking for a new manager, and most supporters have been left extremely frustrated with the whole situation.
