Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has come in for criticism.
The fallout from Leeds United’s playoff defeat to Derby County continues, with fans starting to think about next season’s prospects.
Despite being 2-0 up on aggregate at one point, Leeds managed to collapse at home to the Rams, losing 4-3 on aggregate in the end.
A playoff final meeting with Aston Villa is off the table, and Leeds are now fighting to keep Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road, with fans also discussing who could stay or go.
One player dividing opinion is Patrick Bamford. The striker joined Leeds from Middlesbrough in a big-money move last summer, but suffered an injury in September, ruling him out of action for three months.
Still, the 25-year-old ended the season with nine league goals in 23 outings, and scored just three times in his last 10 games of the season.
He became more known for diving than scoring towards the end of the campaign, and some fans feel that Leeds should move him on and bring in another striker.
Finding a buyer may not be quite so easy given the money involved, and Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony admitted on Twitter that there’s no chance of him taking Bamford, whilst batting away one fan who claimed Bamford is worth more than Peterborough anyway.
MacAnthony noted that he feels sorry for Leeds, but they could have had striker Jack Marriott from Peterborough instead for a lot cheaper – and he ended up scoring twice to send Derby into the playoff final.
